The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz at Sphere transforms the classic 1939 film into a large-scale immersive experience created specifically for Sphere in Las Vegas. Dorothy’s journey through Oz fills the venue’s massive wraparound interior display, surrounding audiences with expanded 16K imagery rather than presenting the film on a traditional movie screen. Sphere Immersive Sound uses 167,000 programmable speakers, infrasound and haptic seating, while environmental effects such as wind, fog, fire, mist, scents and flying objects bring scenes like the tornado and journey down the Yellow Brick Road into the auditorium. The original score was newly recorded with an 80-piece orchestra while preserving the cast’s original vocal performances. Running approximately 75 minutes, the production is an immersive cinematic attraction rather than a live musical or conventional stage show.
